AESOP Engine
Transparency Documentation

What our curriculum AI does, what data it uses, what it cannot do, and how every output is reviewed by a human before reaching learners.

Version: 1.0.0 Effective: April 23, 2026 Patent: App #64/018,565 (pending)

What the AESOP Engine Is

⚙️ Patent Pending — U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Application #64/018,565

The AESOP Engine is a proprietary, patent-pending curriculum generation system designed to produce story-driven AI literacy course content. It is the technical foundation of the AESOP AI Academy platform, enabling our team to author and update course materials at scale while maintaining the narrative, age-appropriate framing that makes our content distinctive.

The Engine is a curriculum authoring tool — it assists human educators in creating content. It is not an autonomous instructional AI, not a tutoring chatbot, and not a system that interacts directly with learners in real time.

How It Works: Inputs

The Engine takes the following as structured inputs from the curriculum team:

No Student Data Used as Input The AESOP Engine does not receive, process, or use any student personal data, behavioral data, or education records as inputs at any stage. Inputs are curriculum design parameters only.

How It Works: Outputs

The Engine produces structured draft content for human review, including:

All outputs are in structured text format. They are delivered to the curriculum team for review — they are never automatically published to learners.

Human Oversight Model

Every piece of content that reaches a learner passes through the following pipeline:

Content Publishing Pipeline
Engine generates draft
Curriculum lead reviews
Published to learners
No Autonomous Publishing No AI-generated content is published to learners without at least one mandatory stage of human review. This is not a policy goal — it is a technical constraint enforced in our publishing workflow.

What the Engine Does NOT Do

ClaimTruth
Accesses or processes student personal data (PII)✗ Never
Publishes content without human review✗ Never
Uses student interaction data to retrain or modify itself✗ Never
Makes real-time decisions about individual learners✗ Not applicable — authoring tool only
Operates autonomously in production without human sign-off✗ Never
Generates content that bypasses editorial review✗ Technically prevented
Interacts directly with learners in real time✗ No chatbot / live AI component for learners

Third-Party AI Components

The AESOP Engine utilizes large language model (LLM) APIs as part of its text generation capability. These components are:

For Procurement Staff The use of third-party LLM APIs in curriculum authoring is analogous to a teacher using a word processor with AI suggestions — the teacher (and our curriculum team) remains the author and decision-maker. The tool does not independently instruct students.
